Dear Colleagues,

First Worldwide Symposium on Drug-Induced QT Prolongation was completed and I would like to thank our devoted faculty who spent their time on preparing presentations for this educational event aiming to increase awareness of the problem. Special thanks go to Dr. Sergio Dubner and Dr. Edgardo Schapachnik for directing, organizing, and managing this important activity and also to Dr. Yunlong Xia from China who took initiative of translating the content of the symposium to his native language to facilitate access to the symposium for his colleagues in China.

During past two weeks we received an update regarding mechanisms and pharmacogenomics of drug-induced QT prolongation and torsade de pointes, we learned about various ECG methods aiming to improve our ability to identify drug-induced QT prolongation. Clinical aspects of drug-induced QT prolongation were discussed, and important topics related to drug testing were presented.

We received an overwhelming response to this ISHNE symposium on this relatively narrow topic with thousands of participants logging in and taking opportunity from the free access to educational materials. All presentations from the symposium will remain on the ISHNE website (www.ishne.org) for a year to facilitate further dissemination of up-to-date knowledge in the field.

Thank you for your attention, and we invite you to take advantage of upcoming ISHNE webcasts and symposia, first on the Update on the Arhythmogenic Right Ventricular Cardiomyopathy/Dysplasia (ARVC/D) and second on the Assessment and Management of Myocardial Infarction and Ischemia.

We are looking forward to having you again on ISHNE website soon,

Wojciech Zareba, MD, PhD
President of the Symposium
