Dear Colleagues

We are pleased to invite you to participate in the 1st Worldwide Virtual Symposium on Drug-Induced QT Prolongation, which will be organized via internet on October 15-31, 2007 by the International Society for Holter and Noninvasive Electrocardiology (ISHNE).

Over last few years ISHNE developed a series of Virtual Symposia that attracted thousands of physicians worldwide. The topic included Brugada syndrome, long QT syndrome, arrhythmogenic right ventricular dysplasia, heart failure, atrial fibrillation (2 times) and sudden cardiac death. Recently completed Virtual Symposium on Atrial Fibrillation, held on April 1-30, 2007, was tremendous success being attended on internet by over 16,000 physicians worldwide representing >120 countries.

We realize that drug-induced QT prolongation and drug-induced torsades de pointes are important topics from clinical standpoint as well as are critical from drug development perspective. Last decade witnessed significant development in understanding of congenital long QT syndrome and based on it significant advancement in understanding of cardiac arrhythmias. This progress made a major impact on the field of drug-induced QT prolongation and we felt that this topic deserves coverage by our virtual symposia. Our Virtual Symposium on Drug Induced QT Prolongation will provide a forum to discuss clinically relevant aspects of drug induced ventricular arrhythmias as well as number of topics related to optimal methodology to evaluate risk of drug-induced repolarization changes that may predispose to torsades de pointes ventricular tachycardia.

I am pleased to announce that Dr. Charles Antzelevitch, Dr. Arthur J. Moss, and Dr. Marek Malik will co-chair with me this symposium and Dr. Sergio Dubner (President of ISHNE) will serve as Director of the event. As in the past, Drug Induced QT Prolongation Virtual Symposium, will consist of several lectures posted on www.ishne.org during first 5-7 days of Symposium with subsequent 7-10 days open for interactive discussion involving invited faculty.
